Nana (real name unknown) is Jerry's grandmother and the mother of Helen Seinfeld and Uncle Leo. She was married to Jerry's maternal grandfather until his death in 1962. When her mind starts to mix up the present and the past, she reveals that Uncle Leo owes his sister, Jerry's mom, $50 from a racetrack bet their father won when they were kids. Nana's real name is never said, but Jerry always refers to her as Nana. Nana was portrayed by late Billye Ree Wallace

Nana sends Jerry a check for $10 every year for his birthday. When Jerry decides to cash them in (years later), she gets notification from Chemical Bank that multiple checks she cut were rejected. The news reaches Uncle Leo, who chides Jerry for sponging off his grandma. Leo fails to realize the reason the checks bounced were that his mother closed her account with Chemical Bank some time ago, instead saying his sister is on a fixed income. When Nana attempts to call Jerry to sort out the bounced checks, she reaches a PBS pledge drive Jerry is hosting. On her next try, Elaine answers the phone, Only to mistake her for her annoying boyfriend Dan, The High Talker, She then tells Nana to Drop Dead and hangs up the phone, Much to her shock and confusion. Later, The phone is answered by Kramer, who announces Jerry's grandmother is on the phone and "just rang up a $1,500 donation", causing loud applause and further money problems for Nana (though it could have been likely Kramer paid the huge amount and had Jerry's grandmother credited for it to be nice).
